October 31 Website Update: Memberships, Gettysburg Maps and Clearer Photo Information

Since my October 20 update, I've been working on making Dynamic Depth Photo easier to explore and use. Memberships are now open, the Gettysburg photograph map has expanded, and more of the site's photographs and resources have clearer information.

Memberships are now available

On October 23, I opened Create, Gallery and Studio memberships at $10, $15 and $20 per month. Each level includes the one below it. Create includes four learning tools, Gallery adds four planning and editing tools, and Studio includes all sixteen tool experiences.

The tools are used online through the website. Memberships renew monthly until canceled, and the membership page explains the terms before you sign up.

The public galleries, photography lessons and free tools remain available without a membership. On October 24, I updated the Tools and Photography Concepts pages to make that distinction clearer. Print Size Advisor is free; it is separate from the Studio membership's Print Readiness Lab.

More Gettysburg photographs connected to locations

On October 28, the public photograph map grew from 64 to 78 mapped photographs, covering 61 named monument locations. This connects more of the existing photographs to location information. You can select a photograph, see the monument location, open Google Maps or walking directions, and follow the location source.

The pins identify the monuments, not the exact places where I stood with the camera. Several photographs can show the same monument. The history section retains its 98 photographs and stories; location information is still being checked for the remaining twenty records.

Clearer descriptions and small tool improvements

On October 28, I worked on replacing filename-style descriptions with reviewed descriptions of what the public photographs actually show. Page titles, descriptions and sharing information also received attention. This work is continuing in batches; it is not finished across every photograph.

Several targeted tool corrections are live, too. The October 23 Camera Simulator update clears the old comparison when a photograph is replaced. October 25 updates gave Composition & Reframe Studio clearer crop-position wording and improved how Photo Analysis & Improvement Lab handles repeating detail patterns. The analysis tool also reports when usable samples are unavailable rather than offering misleading advice.

Homepage, client galleries and email updates

During October 27 and 28, I refined the homepage's spacing and alignment, made the gold accents more consistent, and added a direct link to the thirty featured photographs. A small caption now explains that the framed homepage photograph changes every hour.

The private-gallery directory has also expanded, with twelve client-gallery links and selected cover photographs. The gallery destinations present password screens to protect client access.

On October 26, I added a clearly labeled Stay Updated email signup to the homepage, with a link from the site's custom footer. It is separate from paid membership enrollment and is intended for occasional news about photographs, resources and website additions.

Still being prepared

I'm also working on a print store that I can maintain directly in Squarespace. Its charcoal styling was saved on October 29, but the store remains disabled and its products hidden while print options, pricing, shipping and fulfillment details are reviewed. It is not open for online orders yet.

Photo descriptions, remaining Gettysburg location checks and further tool refinements are not yet complete. I'll keep separating what is available now from what is still being prepared.
