Over the past several days, I’ve continued working on Dynamic Depth Photo with a focus on something that matters just as much as adding new features: making sure the features already here are useful, polished, and worth coming back to.
A lot of the recent work has been focused on reviewing the site as a whole instead of looking at individual pages in isolation.
Photography Education
I’ve been continuing to expand the Photography Learning Center, with plans for additional lessons ranging from beginner-level fundamentals through more advanced photography topics.
The goal is not simply to add more articles. I want the lessons to connect with the photography tools, examples, terminology, and exercises already on the site so that someone can move naturally from learning a concept to actually practicing it.
I’m also continuing to review the Photography Lexicon so terms used throughout the site can be connected more directly to the lessons and tools where they are relevant.
Interactive Photography Tools
The interactive side of Dynamic Depth Photo continues to be one of the areas I’m most interested in developing.
Recent work has included reviewing and refining tools dealing with:
- Exposure
- Histograms
- Focus and sharpness
- Depth of field
- Composition
- Print readiness
- Photo analysis
- Editing decisions
- Portfolio curation
- Photography planning
The goal is to make these tools practical, not just interesting demonstrations.
I want visitors to be able to learn something they can actually use the next time they pick up a camera.
Photographer’s View
One of the more unique features I’ve been developing is Photographer’s View.
This is designed to create a more immersive way to experience photography through a camera-inspired interface.
The idea is to let visitors view photographs in a way that feels closer to looking through a photographer’s camera rather than simply scrolling through another gallery.
The interface is still being refined, particularly for mobile devices, but I like the direction it is going.
Memberships and Photography Resources
I have also been reviewing the membership structure and standalone photography resources.
Instead of simply asking whether something works, I’ve been looking at a more important question:
Does it provide enough value to justify being there?
That review includes the Create, Gallery, and Studio membership levels as well as the standalone photography tools.
Anything that remains part of the paid side of Dynamic Depth Photo needs to provide a real benefit to photographers.
Website Quality and Mobile Experience
A significant amount of work continues behind the scenes on the website itself.
That includes:
- Mobile usability
- Navigation consistency
- Search engine optimization
- Social sharing
- Gallery presentation
- Membership access
- Product organization
- Technical cleanup
- Overall visual consistency
Some of these improvements are already in place, while others are still being tested or refined.
I would rather take the time to get something right than push it live simply because it is finished enough to technically work.
Where Dynamic Depth Photo Is Going
Dynamic Depth Photo started as a place to share my photography.
It is steadily becoming something larger: a place to view photography, learn photography, understand the decisions behind photographs, and use interactive tools that help photographers improve their own work.
There is still a lot being developed, tested, and refined.
That is part of the process.
I’ll continue sharing these updates as the site evolves.
